Millesgården Sculpture Park
The Millesgården Sculpture Park was the home and the studio of Sweden’s most celebrated sculptor, Carl Milles. Milles worked for many years as a professor of sculpture at Cranbrook Academy of Arts in Michigan. You can find his sculptures all over the world.
Carl Milles bought land along the southern slopes of the island of Lidingö. He built a home and created a sculpture park here for himself and his Austrian born wife, Olga. Millesgården became a foundation and the park was open to the public already during Milles life time.
Many of his sculptures are placed on columns giving them the impression as if they are flying. Let a guide tell you how Milles transformed Greek mythology, legends and historical Swedes into sculptures.
