August Strindberg (1849-1912) was a playwright, novelist, poet, essayist and painter who often drew directly on his personal experience. Strindberg´s career spanned four decades. He wrote over sixty plays and more than thirty works of fiction and an autobiography. He wrote on the topics of history, cultural analysis and politics. Internationally he is mostly known as a playwright.

You can even visit the apartment called The Blue Tower where he spent the last four years of his life. The reconstructed apartment, consisting of three rooms, and his library of some 3000 works are today the core of the Strindberg Museum. Worth a visit!
